未来社会空間の創生 国際卓越大学院(英語名称: World-leading Innovative Graduate Study Program innovations for Future Society) は、科学と技術の将来を切り拓く国際的に卓越した「知のプロフェッショナル」人材を養成する修士?博士一貫教育プログラムです。東京大学の5研究科14専攻4研究所によって組織され、国内外の企業・教育研究機関と連携し、分野や国・地域の垣根を超えた世界最高水準の研究と教育を行っていきます。
WINGS iFSのロゴは、WINGSのWとFuture SocietyのFをモチーフとし、つなぐをイメージ化したものです。
WINGS iFSでは、SDGs(Sustainable Development Goals)を実現する未来社会空間の創生に向け、特定分野の専門性を有して社会実装、先進的な要素技術の開発、基盤研究の深耕を担い、産業界や地域・国など様々な専門家や実行主体をつなぎ、イノベーションを実践して未来産業の創出に寄与できる人材の育成を行います。
地球と人類社会の未来への貢献に向け、SDGsを共通ビジョンとし産業界との強い連携のもと、地域や国とも協調してその実現に向けたイノベーションを起こすこと、それを担う人材の育成を目標としています。 特にSDGsの実現には欠かせず、日本の基幹産業の持続的発展に貢献すべく、インフラ、エネルギー、モビリティを主たるターゲットとして政策、経済、社会、文化も含み、最先端研究を推進して未来産業の創出を図ります。 また、未来世代に引き継ぐ社会空間(未来社会空間)における新しいイノベーションのあり方として、個別の技術が相互に影響し合い社会全体として調和的に機能するホロニック*なシステム・プロセスの創出を行っていきます。
本プログラムでは、国内外の優秀な実務者をメンバーに加え、企業と大学院を往来し横断的経験を積むことや企業内のサテライト研究室にて実務者と協働するインターンシップ、第一線で活躍する実務者によるセミナー、産業界からの課題提供によるPBL(Project Based Learning)、世界トップ大学の大学院生と議論するサマーキャンプなどの実践的な講義・演習を提供しています。 21世紀COE、GCOE、リーディング大学院の実践を基盤として学術的・社会的課題解決のために領域横断の教育研究拠点をより一層高度化しています。
*ホロニックはホロンの概念による個と全体の有機的調和という意味であり、本プログラムではそれぞれのインテリジェントな個とそのネットワークを介して、集中と分散、転換と利用、大規模と小規模、都市と地方の調和を実現するものを意味しています。
the abbreviation of World-leading Innovative Graduate Study Program innovations for Future Society, which is an integrated Master’s and Doctoral program, organized by 5 Graduate Schools, 14 majors, and 4 research institutes in The University of Tokyo. This program offers various practical experiences to cultivate remarkable human resources who would open the way for a future science and technology, so-called “knowledge professionals”. By collaborating with domestic and international companies and institutes, we carry out research and education at the top international level, which go beyond individual fields, countries, and regions.
Our logo represents the connection of different fields and backgrounds, in the motif of “W” of WINGS and “F” of Future Society.
We need to cultivate human resources who will be able to create a future society that will realize the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Based on the expertise that they possess in specific fields, such human resources must be able to contribute to building the industry of the future by engaging in societal implementation of technologies, the development of advanced component technologies and the cultivation of more advanced fundamental research, and then forging links with a variety of experts and key players from different industries, regions and countries in order to put such innovations into practice.
The aim of the program are to bring about the innovations that will help to realize the SDGs through coordination with different regions and countries, based on robust partnerships with various industries which share our vision for the SDGs, and to cultivate the human resources who will be responsible for such tasks, in order to contribute towards the future of the planet and human society itself. In particular, the program will work to build the industry of the future by promoting cutting-edge research (not only technological, but also in politics, economics, society and culture) targeting primarily infrastructure, energy and mobility, in order to contribute towards sustainable development in Japan’s key industries, something which is crucial if the SDGs are to be made reality. As a new way of innovation in a society which can be passed on to future generations, we are to generate holonic* systems and processes wherein individual technologies are working together and interacting with one another so as to bring about functional harmony across society as a whole.
This program will offer a number of hands-on lectures and practical learning experiences including opportunities to build up cross-sectoral experience through visits between companies and the graduate school; internships in which participants will have the opportunity to work with practitioners in satellite laboratories (where high-caliber practitioners from inside and outside Japan serve as members) within companies; seminars given by practitioners who are succeeding at the leading edge of their fields; project-based learning (PBL) experiences which involve working on challenges proposed by the world of industry; and summer camps in which participants will be able to discuss international joint research proposals together with graduate students from global top-level universities. The University of Tokyo aims to develop itself as a hub for cross-disciplinary education and research with the aim of solving academic and social challenges based on practical work undertaken at 21th century Centers of Excellence (COEs), Global Centers of Excellence (GCOEs) and the Program for Leading Graduate Schools as a platform.
*The word “holonic” describes an organic harmonization of the individual level and overall level based on the concept of the “holon” (meaning “something that is both a part and a whole”). It uses both individual intelligent components and intelligent networks to create a system in which concentration is balanced with dispersion, transformation with usage, large-scale elements with small-scale elements, and cities with districts.
